The Board of Education earlier this year dedicated the main gymnasium at Southington High School to late coach and teacher Walter Lozoski?

A Pennsylvania native, Coach Lozoski during his tenure compiled an overall record of 311-182, which includes marks of 249-162 in basketball, 24-8 in football and 38-12 in golf. He organized the first golf team at the high school and was named the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Golf Coach of the Year in 1964 (the first year the award was handed out.)
Coach Lozoski's teams won 12 league championships and his Blue Knights football squad was CIAC Class B champions in 1957. The golf team touted a 41-3 record from 1963-66 and won the conference championship in each of those years. An inductee into the Connecticut High School Coaches Hall of Fame, Coach Lozoski was a social studies teacher and department chairman at Southington High School prior to his retirement in the late 1970s. He died at age 87 on March 27, 2005.
