Wife of SHS Department Chairman Dies At 55

Roberta Barr Ellsworth, the wife of Southington High School Technology Education teacher and department chairman John Ellsworth has died after a 12-year battle with cancer. She died Friday (October 5) with her family by her side. In addition to her husband, she leaves three loving children, Sarah M. Gutierrez of Colchester and Carrie L. Ellsworth and Timothy J. Ellsworth of Avon.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Church of Christ Congregational Unionville, 61 Main St., Unionville. A committal service will conclude at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in New Britain. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the Carmon of Avon Funeral Home, 301 Country Club Rd., Avon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a scholarship fund set up for Carrie and Tim's college educations in the name of the Roberta B. Ellsworth Memorial Fund, c/o Farmington Savings Bank, P.O.
