Board of Education honors recent retirees

The Southington Board of Education at its last meeting before the election honored the town’s teachers and faculty members who retired at the end of the 2006-07 school year.

Honored for their service from the high school were formers teachers Eleanor Aleksinas (Math); Theresa Carmody (Social Studies); Elizabeth Catelli (Science); Daniel Murawski (Social Studies); Robert W. Smith (Media Specialist); guidance counselor Lydia Vine; and retired SHS Athletic Director Dr. Robert Lehr. Former SHS Art teacher David Pendell (who had taught at DePaolo Middle School since leaving SHS in the early 1980s) was also honored.

According to school officials, about 35 employees in the school system retired before the start of the current school year.
