Remembering...
LAWRENCE D'ANGELO
-
At the end of the month it will be 38 years since Southington High School Principal Lawrence D'Angelo died unexpectedly at his home, just days before the start of the 1971 school year. The veteran educator began his career as a business teacher at Lewis High School in 1934. In the 1940s he took leave for a tour of duty with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was appointed an assistant principal at Southington High in 1952 and was tapped to replace principal Martin Phelan six years later. He was a revered figure at SHS and was well-known in the community for his work with numerous civic and fraternal clubs. The media center at the Pleasant Street high school is dedicated in his memory.
