Board hires new SHS principal
-
Superintendent of Schools Joseph V. Erardi this afternoon announced who will succeed Kathleen McGrath as principal of Southington High School.
-
After interviewing candidates in a special meeting last night, the board of education has tapped Martin Semmel to take the helm at SHS following McGrath's retirement next week. Semmel has been the principal of Bristol Central High School since 2007.
-
He is only the second educator hired outside of the school system to lead Southington High School (and Lewis High before it) in more than a century; the last being Jerome Auclair, principal from 1987 to 2002. McGrath leaves next week after eight years as principal and more than 30 years in the local school system.
