Michelle Schroeder has resigned from the Southington Board of Education, halfway through her first term and one year after she and five other Republicans took a majority on the board. In her Nov. 4 letter of resignation to board chairman Brian Goralski, Schroeder cites personal issues as her reason for stepping down.

The 38-year-old tells the Record-Journal yesterday that she has "a lot going on as far as health and personal issues. In order for me to do the best job I can as a board member, I would have to get past a lot of things going on in my life. I just need to take a step back and take care of myself and my family first."
