FRED FARLEY DIES


Retired Southington High School Vocational-Agriculture teacher Frederick G. Farley has died at the age of 80.

Mr. Farley died Monday after a brief illness. He was born in Bristol on Dec. 5, 1926 and moved with his family to Kittery, Maine when he was 14. Having worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard during the closing years of World War II, Mr. Farley later graduated from Keene State College and the University of Hartford.

He taught Industrial Arts and Vocational Education in Bristol and Southington until his retirement in 1983. He then retired to Kittery. He was a member of the Lions International and enjoyed working on the club building, can collection and Christmas tree sales. He was a long time member of the Middle Street Baptist Church of Portsmouth, NH, serving the church as trustee and deacon.

Mr. Farley was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years, Ellen (Stoddard) Farley. He is survived by his son, Charles, and daughter-in-law, Joan, with whom he lived the last two years of his life; his brother and sister-in-law, James and Lil; and nephews James, John and Joel and a niece, Lizbeth.
