In our October 3 "Did You Know..."
we noted that two former SHS teachers were on this year's election ballot. As a follow-up: recently retired Social Studies teacher Terri Carmody won a two-year term to the Board of Education while former English teacher Cheryl Lounsbury lost her chance at a full term on the Town Council. In other election news, Republicans gained control of the school board, making SHS grads Brian Goralski and Rosemarie Micacci Fischer the board's party leaders.

Meanwhile, Democrats retained control of the Town Council, with Chris Palmieri, John Barry, Tony D'Angelo, Art Secondo and Dave Zoni representing the majority. Republicans elected to the council were incumbent Mike Riccio, newcomers John Carmody and Ed Pocock III and Nick DePaola, returning to the council after a 6-year absence. All but DePaola are SHS graduates.
