Who says macho men don't drink tea? Foreign Language teacher Armand Solomita and History teacher and football coach Dom D'Angelo share a spot (or coffee or whatever) in the SHS kitchen in this shot from the 1967 Chronicle. D'Angelo retired as coach and athletic director in 1988. Solomita closed the book on his career as a guidance counselor at SHS eight years later.

What a great shot from the heyday of both their careers. Mr. Solomita was a good guy. Coach D'Angelo one of a kind - the epitome of the classic 1960s high school football coach.
These two great gentlemen helped shape me and many more of Southingtons finest young adults into productive citizens. We that had them touch our lives owe them a debt of granditude for what they have done for us all. I wouldn't have gotten out of spanish without Speedy Solomita. The coach showed us that if we put our minds to it we can do anything. Thank you to both of you for your guidance.
