Retired Southington High School Foreign Language teacher Barbara Patla has died.

Mrs. Patla was a Latin teacher at John F. Kennedy Junior High School before moving to Southington High in the late 1970s. She retired in 1997.

She died Saturday at the age of 77.

A Southington native, Mrs. Patla was the wife of the late John Patla and the daughter of the late Joseph and Genevieve Luty. Her father was a popular selectman and civic leader in Southington for decades.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday from the Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.

Mrs. Patla was a dignified and very well-read teacher. She was among the most professional I have ever known. Rest in peace.
She dressed , acted and performed with the utmost of dignity and grace. . Mrs. Patla was the standard for her profession . May she rest in peace.
