Elizabeth Masthay, retired town librarian

If you, like most SHS alumni, spent any time at the Southington Public Library as a youth, you remember childrens' librarian Betty Masthay. A mainstay at the library for 30 years, Mrs. Masthay died April 8 at the age of 91. A graduate of Lewis High School and the University of New Hampshire, she was active with the First Baptist Church and was a former member of the Embroidery Guild of America, Connecticut River Valley Chapter, the Calendar House, the Apple Valley Chapter of AARP and the Apple Valley Quilters. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
