RAYMOND JOYAL
-
Raymond Joyal was a teacher at Lewis High School and its successor, Southington High School, from 1930 until his retirement in 1968. A resident of Plantsville from the time he began his career at Lewis, he was chairman of the Social Studies Department at Southington High School from 1953 until his retirement. Outside of his work as a teacher, he was a member of the Southington Board of Burgesses and the police commission as well as a deputy judge for the town court. Mr. Joyal was also the Democratic Registrar of Voters from 1956 to 1980. Remembered as one of Southington's most personable and popular teachers, he died one week shy of his 80th birthday in December 1986.
