The Southington High School Class of 1975 graduation ceremony was one of the only ever dedicated to an individual?
-
On the evening of June 19, 1975, 512 students bid farewell to SHS on Fontana Field. The ceremony, which was the first to take place at the Pleasant Street high school, was to be held on the football field but with new bleachers yet to arrive, chairs were placed on the soccer field for spectators. At the request of the Class of 1975, the ceremony was dedicated to the memory of Francis S. Kane, the chairman of the high school building committee who had died the month before. The popular probate judge and civic leader was 49 at the time of his death.
