Since its inception in 1969, the Apple Harvest Festival has always been an important part of our years at SHS. Marching in the parade, working a booth, hanging out downtown with friends and, of course, the crowning of the queen that kicked it all off. And on the evening of Sept. 24, 1989, Carrie Plawecki, right, was named queen at the annual dance hosted by the Elks Club. Here she is congratulated by friend Amy Horton. The two graduated the following spring and remain close friends.
