He began his career in radio broadcasting but became best known as a TV sports anchor. That's the late Dick Galiette, a member of Southington High School's first graduating class and sports director of WTNH Channel 8 from 1964 to 1981. Dick left Channel 8 to become one of the first anchors of SportsCenter on a fledgling cable network called ESPN. He was also the play-by-play voice of Yale Football from 1963-1989 and from 1997 until the time of his death in October 2005.

I thought so! Loved Dick Galiette and can still hear his voice. Class act. Dick came from an era gone by, the era of "old school" sports reporting. We'll never see another one like him.
